Our team has been busy tackling a serious woodworm infestation this week. The images show just how much damage woodworm can cause if left untreated, weakening floors and structural timber.
To ensure a thorough treatment, we accessed not only the surface flooring but also underneath, allowing us to treat the joists and subfloor areas where woodworm larvae often remain hidden. Treating both sides helps stop the infestation at its source and protects the structure long-term.
Woodworms are the larvae of wood-boring beetles that tunnel through timber as they feed, gradually weakening wooden structures from the inside out. Over time, their activity can cause significant damage to properties, especially in structural elements such as floorboards, roof beams, joists, and wooden furniture.
As the larvae burrow, they create networks of tunnels that reduce the wood’s strength and stability. Signs of infestation often include small round exit holes in the surface, fine powdery dust (called frass), and crumbling or weakened timber. If left untreated, severe infestations can compromise structural integrity, leading to sagging floors, damaged roofing supports, and costly repairs.
If you’ve noticed small holes in timber, fine dust around wood, or weakening floors, it could be woodworm. Early treatment prevents costly repairs later.
